Migration Control Dogs
Searching for persons
The task of a Migration Control Dog is to search for hidden persons or stowaways in trucks or containers. The K9 Training Centre provides training for these dogs as well as courses for their handlers. We also train migration control dogs on demand.
Covid Detection Dogs
Medical search dogs
Also in the fight against the Covid-19 virus, our faithful four-legged friends proved again how strong their sense of smell is. When a person is infected, the sweat of that person will have a specific odour as a reaction to the bacteria. The training of Covid detection dogs was therefore the perfect challenge for the K9 Training Centre.
Say 'No' to drugs
The fight against drugs never stops. Dogs are an essential part of the search for drugs. Thanks to their strong sense of smell, dogs manage to make a difference. Dogs can detect different odours at the same time and can therefore select drugs among other odours.
Dogs were first used to assist a modern police force in Ghent in the late 1890s. At that time, there was no official mention of the Belgian Shepherds. Dogs were already used to patrol with the night watchmen in the port of Ghent. Dogs still prove their importance in a police force, security company or army.
